My Guitar has never sounded sweeter
Anonymous 09.02.2017
Ok, so I have to admit that adding pedals to my set up is new to me.
I play an Acoustic Takamine - while unplugged it sounds fabulous, but i felt like I was not getting enough from it live.
I have used the AD-2, followed by the boss GE-3 EQ pedal a few times now and the overall sound is so much warmer than it ever has been.
Again, not being a pedal expert, I found that putting the boss AD-2 before the EQ pedal worked very well, but for whatever reason, if I reversed this order I got an unwanted slight distorted sound.
Price wise, as is often the case with Thomann, I found that no shop locally could match the price.
The pedal, along with other items I ordered arrived in the usual timely fashion from Thomann.
Note that the Boss AD-2 does NOT come with a power supply (it is unfortunate that this is not included), although it can run on a 9volt battery.
So far so good, I'm happy with my purchase.
looking forward to playing with it a little more and getting the best sound possible from my set up.
Would certainly recommend.

Adds Very Little

This is a well made and easy to use pedal, but the FX are so subtle that it is ultimately useless.

I tried using it with a nylon string ukulele and a Cherub external piezo pickup. It does, just barely, round off piezo screech, but adds nowhere near enough gain to properly drive an electric guitar amp.

Other effects: the "Ambience" (reverb) is OK, though noisy, but the "Acoustic Resonance" and the "Notch" filter seem to do bugger all.

So far, I have tried the L.R. Baggs Para Di (feedback hell and too expensive) and L.R. Baggs GigPro (great, but really, really difficult to change the batteries; you have to yank out the whole PCB!)

Conclusion: I've given up piezos, preamps, and all that malarkey, and gone back to using a mic.

Does the job

This pre-amp does what it does. I use it with a Seymour Duncan Woody XL. Silent, not to hard, maybe even a bit "sluggish".
But it's a Boss. Little to complaint about. It even comes with a battery, so there is no reason not to work it as soon as it comes in.
Good thing when you need that little extra for recording as well as in a live setting.

I like how the ambience effect on this one. You dont need a separate reverb when u have this gadget. It does give u a good acoustic feel. Im recommending this.
