The SC203 from Eve Audio consists of two active speakers, each comprising a tweeter and a low-midrange speaker. Signals can find their way into the SC203 via the two RCA inputs for stereo sound or via the digital TOSLink input. In addition, digital signal sources can be connected via the USB port. Numerous functions can be accessed via the control, which is practically located on the left speaker. Here you can choose between two different filters (low and high) and adjust the position, the balance, and the brightness of the LED ring. In this way, this compact speaker system impresses not only with its detailed sound reproduction, but also with its flexible setting options for a variety of applications.
The speaker system can reproduce frequencies between 62Hz and 21kHz. An optionally available subwoofer can be added to the system via the RCA output. The signal processor built into the SC203 enables latency-free filtering and the limiter offers optimum protection against overloads. A high-shelf filter can boost or cut the frequency range from 3kHz in increments of 0.5dB. The same can be done in the low end for frequencies up to 300Hz. On the back of the right speaker, further settings can be made using the DIP switches. These include an automatic standby mode and a satellite filter for use with a subwoofer. In addition, the maximum input volume can also be set here.
With the SC203, EVE Audio offers a monitor system that is suitable for a wide range of applications. Music producers and gamers will find it an ideal monitor with flexible settings that will also allow them to enjoy their favourite films. Thanks to its compact size, this monitor system is easy to transport. Since all functions are housed in one cabinet and the system requires only a few cables, it can be set up and taken down quickly and flexibly. The two FlexiPads included in the scope of delivery ensure an optimum sound by acoustically decoupling the speakers. The mounting adapter allows placement on microphone and speaker stands with a 3/8" thread. An optionally available Mic Thread Wall Mount from the manufacturer also allows space-saving wall installation.
The German company EVE Audio is based in Berlin and was founded in 2011. It dedicates itself to the production of professional studio monitors in various versions, which deliver detailed sound not only to sound engineers but also to consumers. The company offers monitors for every application in a wide variety of rooms and for every budget. Thanks to the enhanced technology of the Air Motion Transformer, all of the company's speakers are characterised by minimal sound discolouration, precise tweeter adjustment, and improved distortion behaviour. The SC3010 and SC3012 monitors were introduced in March 2014, followed in April 2015 by the SC203 desktop speaker and the PMR 2.10 passive monitor router. Today, EVE Audio products are sold in more than 60 countries.
The frequency response of the monitor can be adjusted to the listening position. If both monitors are at the same height as the listening position, the "Flat" setting is recommended, as well as the use of the FlexiPads supplied for a vertical sound dispersion of 0°. When used as a desktop system on a table, the sound dispersion should be 15°. Optimum filtering can also be set for this purpose. Ideally, the two monitors should be set up in a stereo triangle at an angle of 60° to the listener. If an optional subwoofer is used, the Satellite function filters out the corresponding portion of both stereo channels for the subwoofer and sums them into a mono signal. Low frequencies have a wide dispersion angle, so the subwoofer does not necessarily have to be placed centrally on the floor.
